Alpha v0.15.0

Drift & Magnetic Coins

What's New

  • Gameplay - Drift is a new Drive Upgrade with a Special mechanic — burst sideways to slip an attack without ever turning your guns off-target.
  • Gameplay - Coins and power-ups pull toward your ship when you skim past — no more doubling back to vacuum up scattered loot.
  • Controls - Two new bindings — Q / E burst left and right when Drift is equipped, mapped to LB / RB on gamepad.

What's Changed

  • Gameplay - Drive Upgrades no longer raise your max energy. The acceleration bonus per tier is gentler too — Drive Upgrades stay valuable, but they no longer overshadow the other slots.

Drift

Until now, your ship has only ever moved in the direction it's pointed. Drift breaks that — it adds a true lateral axis, useful for sidestepping a Reaver charge or kiting around a Phantom volley without ever taking your guns off-target. Each burst is a quick sideways shove that stacks on top of thrust and rotation, so you can curl your path mid-dash.

It's deliberately limited. Every burst draws a chunk of energy and locks the next one out for a short beat — Drift is for moments, not constant motion.

Drive Rebalance

Adding a new Drive Special meant the slot was doing too much. Drive used to scale three stats at once — acceleration, max energy, and energy regen — which made every other Upgrade slot feel weak by comparison. Max energy now stays at your class's base regardless of what you equip, and the acceleration boost per tier is dialed down. Drive still scales the things that move you: how fast you accelerate, how quickly your energy refills, and now, when equipped with Drift, how often you can burst sideways.
