Alpha v0.14.0
Upgrade Damage & Coin Economy
What's New
- Gameplay - Triple-shot is the first Upgrade with a Special mechanic. Equip it in your Weapons slot and your primary fire splits into three parallel bullets — each shot draws a bit of energy.
- Gameplay - Equipped Upgrades take damage every time you die. Higher tiers survive more deaths before they're destroyed.
- Gameplay - Sell Upgrades for Coins at the Inventory. Damaged items sell for less.
- Gameplay - Repair damaged Upgrades to bring them back to full.
- Gameplay - Coins now persist between matches. Whatever you collect in a run stays in your wallet.
- UI - Sell, Repair, Unequip, or Discard an Upgrade in the Inventory by right-clicking (or X on a gamepad).
- UI - Press Esc (or Start on a gamepad) in a match to open a menu with Settings and Leave Match. Settings isn't ready yet — Leave Match brings you back to Class select.
- UI - Coin wallet now shows under the Inventory.
What's Changed
- UI - Upgrade tooltips now include damage, sell price, and repair cost.
- UI - Upgrades that grant a Special mechanic now show a "Special" line in their tooltip describing what they do.
- UI - Each Upgrade slot shows a damage bar along the bottom — fills red as the item takes damage, slot grays out when destroyed.
- UI - Discarding Upgrades lives in the context menu now.
- HUD - Loot cards auto-dismiss after a few seconds. Click them to dismiss sooner.
Upgrade Economy
Your Upgrades aren't permanent anymore. Every death adds damage to each piece you've got equipped — higher tiers can soak more deaths before they're destroyed. Destroyed Upgrades stay grayed-out in your inventory and can only be discarded.
To balance the attrition, you can spend Coins on your gear at the Inventory. Sell any non-destroyed Upgrade for Coins (less if it's damaged), or Repair a damaged one back to full strength.
Coins themselves now stick around between matches. Every Coin you collect in a run gets folded into your wallet when you leave.
Triple-shot
Some Upgrades carry a Special — a behavior change, not just a stat boost. Triple-shot is the first: equip it in your Weapons slot and your ship fires three parallel bullets per shot instead of one, with the outer two staggered slightly behind the center. Every shot draws a bit of energy, so if you run dry your gun goes quiet until your reserves recover.
Expect more Specials over time. Most Upgrades won't have one — when they do, the tooltip flags it with a "Special" line.
